David Wesson, cooking oil pioneer, has died...

Item # 637440

May 23, 1934

NEW YORK TIMES, May 23, 1934  The top of page 19 has a one column head: "DAVID WESSON, 73, INVENTOR, IS DEAD" with subheads.
First report coverage on the death of David Wesson, food chemist who developed the novel process for deodorizing cottonseed oil for commercial use. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Complete in 40 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
