The top of page 2 has a report headed; "The Conflagration of the Steamer Erie on Lake Erie", one of the biggest tragedies up to that time (see hyperlink). Much detail, taking over 2 full columns. Also on pg. 2: "The Mary Rogers Mystery". Mary Rogers was found dead on July 28, 1841, a story which became a national sensation in the U.S., inspiring Edgar Allan Poe's detective story 'The Mystery of Marie Roget'.
