A weekly newspaper published by the Oneida community. Most of the content has religious or literary overtones, however the bkpg. has nearly a column of: "News Items" including a brief yet historic report noting: "The President has issued his proclamation admitting Nevada into the Union."
The majority of the news reports deal with the Civil War including: "...new Constitution of Maryland which forever abolishes slavery in that state has been adopted by the people by a majority..." and "...announced in the Georgia Confederacy that arrangements are making at Richmond 'to arm for the spring campaign, 300,000 slaves whose masters are to be compensated by the Confederate government..." with more (see).
