THE NEW YORK TIMES, May 5, 1935

* Thoroughbred racehorse - horse racing
* Omaha wins Kentucky Derby
* Triple Crown champion

The front page of the sport's section (inside) has a two column headline: "50,000 SEE OMAHA WIN DERBY BY 1 1/2 LENGTHS; ROMAN SOLDIER SECOND" with subheads that include: "Victory of Colt Sired by Gallant Fox Completes 3d Father-Son Double" and more with related photos. (see) First report coverage on the 1st of 3 historic wins for this famed horse. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in a thick 100+ page Sunday edition, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Minor creasing on the front page, very nice condition.
