October 28, 1774

CONNECTICUT JOURNAL & NEW HAVEN POST-BOY, Oct. 28, 1774  Some nice ftpg. content including one beginning: "This meeting taking into their consideration the unhappy differences & disputes subsisting between Great Britain & her colonies...", followed by another report datelined from Boston with a Resolve: "That the Congress approve of the opposition by the inhabitants of the Mass. Bay to the execution of the late Acts of Parliament..." with much more good text (see). The balance of the ftpg. has some nice content, including a document signed in type: John Hancock (see).
Page 2 has a report from Virginia that Governor Dunmore has concluded a treaty with the Delaware Indians (see). This is followed by a report from the "Provincial Congress" which includes in part: "That this Congress do earnestly recommend...an abhorrence and detestation of all kinds of Est India Teas as the baneful vehicle of a corrupt & venal administration for the purpose of introducing despotism & slavery into this once happy country..." (see). Also a proclamation for a day of thanksgiving signed in type by: John Hancock.
The back page has an interesting response from Thomas Gage, governor of Mass. Bay, to the grievances of the Mass. Assembly (see). This is followed by a letter to Thomas Gage from the people or Worcester, Mass., complaining about many issues, followed by Gage's response which begins: "I have repeatedly given the strongest assurances that I intended nothing hostile against the town or country & therefore desire you to ease the minds..." signed in type by him: Tho's. Gage (see).
Four pages, scattered foxing, good condition.
