THE NEW YORK TIMES, November 2, 1938

* Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral (1st report)
* Thoroughbred horse racing
* Famous 'Match of the Century'

The sport's section (page 29) has a six column headline: "40,000 Watch Seabiscuit Defeat War War Admiral at Pimlico" with subheads that include: "SEABISCUIT BREAKS TRACK MARK TO WIN" and more with two related photos. 1st report coverage on the 'Match of the Century" between Seabiscuit and War Admiral at Pimlico Race Course. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 48 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Very nice condition.
