October 27, 1855
STATE GAZETTE, "Seat of Government", Austin, Texas, Oct. 27, 1855
* Rare Southwest title
We rarely are able to offer newspapers from Texas from before the Civil War. The front page has the: "True History of the Outrages & Riots in Louisville on Monday, August 6th, 1855", known as the "Bloody Monday" riots (see hyperlink for more). This is followed by: "The Proper Education for the Youth of Texas". Much news of the day inside.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, large folio size, various creases & edge tears at the margins, small hole at the fold juncture.
