THE DAILY JOURNAL, Wilmington, North Carolina, Nov. 9, 1860  The top of pg. 2 has an interesting report from this Southern newspaper on Lincoln being elected President, including: "The Presidential election throughout the Union is over & the people have learned by means of the telegraph that the Black Republican ticket, headed by Abraham Lincoln of Illinois...has triumphed...this has been a sectional contest. The entire North, excepting perhaps the states of New Jersey & Delaware, has gone for the Black Republican candidates while the entire South has cast its strength against that ticket..." with more.
