THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, Tennessee, April 5, 1968  Perhaps the best newspaper to have on the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., as collectors strive for newspaper reports from the city where the event happened. Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis.
The banner headline announces: "DR. KING IS SLAIN BY SNIPER" with subheads: "Looting, Arson Touched Off By Death" "Intensive Manhunt Is Quickly Mounted" "Guardsmen Returned; Curfew Is Ordered" and more. Two related front page photos as well.
The complete first section with pages 1-16, plus 4 pages from the third (of 4) section.
