March 08, 1837

WORCESTER REPUBLICAN, Massachusetts, March 8, 1837

* Michigan joins the Union
* Admitted as the 26th state

The front page has 3 Acts of Congress, the first of which is signed in type by the President: Andrew Jackson. Two of the Acts relate to Indians, and one for: "...the payment of the revolutionary & other pensioners of the U.S..." (see).
Of significance is a page 2: "ACT to Admit the State of Michigan into the Union Upon an Equal Footing with the Original States", dated Jan. 26, 1837 (see). Page 3 has a report on Van Buren's thoughts on the anti-slavery question.
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, very nice condition.
