COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Oct. 21, 1795 Most of a front page column is taken up with: "By the Governor: A PROCLAMATION" for a day of public thanksgiving & praise, concluded on pg. 2 where it is signed in type: Samuel Adams. Page 3 has a very nice & detailed report on: "Gold Coinage" describing half eagles ($5 coins) recently minted. These were the very first gold coins ever struck in the United States.
