Item # 609418
August 17, 1934
ILLUSTRATED CURRENT NEWS, New Haven, Connecticut, August 17, 1934 This is a nice example of this early news service photo poster published 3 times a week, taken up almost entirely with one or more photos of the most notable event of the day. Done in broadside form (printed on front side only) these were meant to be hung up for display, typically used in schools to provide photos of the most current events. Thumb tack or staples holes are commonly found in the corners.
This issue concerns the recent death of the president of Germany, Paul von Hindenburg. Among the 3 photos are an inset of him lying in state, as well as a view of his funeral service. It was his death that made Adolph Hitler the most powerful person in Germany.
Printed on high-quality coated paper, minor margin wear, nice condition.
