WORCESTER EVENING GAZETTE, Massachusetts, April 8, 1872
* Samuel 'Worcester Sam' Perris
* burglar, safe cracker and bank robber
* Jail escape - best title to have
The front page has over half column headed: "The Escape of Sam Perris". This is the noted bank robbery 'Worcester' Sam Perris, who was called one of the most notorious criminals in America. It is said Perris participated in nearly every major bank robbery in the United States during a 20-year period (see hyperlink). Being a "local" criminal, breaking out of the Worcester jail, terrific to have this report in a Worcester newspaper.
Four pages, large folio size, a bit irregular at the spine, some archival mends near the spine and inside, small piece missing from the upper right corner (mostly in the margin), plus the 2nd leaf has some bits missing near the edges & the spine- issue priced accordingly
