February 14, 1859

THE NEW YORK TIMES, Feb. 14, 1859  The top of the front page has an historic report of Oregon joining the Union, with column heads: "Important From Washington" "Passage of the Bill for the Admission of Oregon" among other unrelated reports (see). Further on is the report from the House of Representatives concerning the discussion of Oregon's admission (see for portions), followed by the vote listing all names voting "Yea" and "Nay". The editorial on page 4 has some reflection on this as well. Actually the formal admission date was Feb. 14 upon the President's signature.
Eight pages, nice condition. Great to have this report in such a famous newspaper.
