An absolute treasure-trove of terrific prints, and this volume is in much better condition than most. Having been a dealer in this (and other) titles for over 34 years we have handled hundreds of these bound volumes. These are among the nicest & cleanest prints we have seen.

Mentions are only some of the highlights, and the photos are just a sampling of those within this volume, there being simply too many to photograph all.

Some of the prints include: "The Australian Exploring Expedition Traveling through the Scrub"  "The Great Fire At Ayr"; several prints on: "Sketches in Turkey"; a large & beautiful doublepage centerfold of: "George Washington"; doublepg. centerfold: "The Express Quick Trip Across the American Continent from New York to San Francisco" having 11 vignettes; map of "The Seat Of War" "The War in the East" "Table Rock, Niagara" "The American Centennial Festival: Independence Hall, Philadelphia on the 4th of July"; several more prints on the Centennial Celebration in Phila.; "Belgrade"; doublepage: "Joan of Arc" "Richard Wagner, German Musical Composer" "Opening of the First Railway in China...From Shanghai" "...New Railway in Japan between Osaka and Kobe" "Driving Grouse on the Moors"; several scenes in Servia; "Kangaroo Hunting in Australia" "The Painted Rocks of Arizona, North America" "American Sketches: Indians at a Hide Trader's Hut" "The Mammoth Cave of Kentucky: The Mammoth Dome" "The Mammoth Cave of Kentucky: The Gothic Gallery"; other prints of "Mammoth Cave, Kentucky" "The Mountain War in Fiji" "Sketches in Burmah" "Blowing up of the Hell Gate rocks in East River, New York" "American Sketches: An Indian Courtship"; A special "Supplement issue with its own masthead: "News Of the Arctic Expedition" with many related prints on the "North Pole Expedition" "American Sketches: A Negro Congregation at Washington" "Salisbury Cathedral" "A Wild Indian Show" is a doublepage; "Chinese Itinerant Barbers" "Presidential Election in America: Fraudulent Voters in Custody..."; several prints of Herzegovina; a nice special issue with a masthead reading: "Christmas Number" (see); "The Yosemite Valley, California: the Cathedral Rocks" and "The Bridal Veil Fall" "A Store at Reykjavik, Iceland" "Christmas In Florida" "Christmas in the Hudson's Bay Territory" "Gathering Dates in Ceylon" "Sketches in Prague" and so much more.
Included is the: "Christmas Number" with a great full front page print showing people around a decorated Christmas tree; "Christmas, Ideal and Real" includes an image of the head of Santa Claus.

The July 15 issue has a 2 1/4 inch report near the middle of a page which includes in part: "Official dispatches have been received at Washington fully confirming the news of the disaster which has befallen General Custer in his engagement with the Sioux Indians on the Little Horn...A general Indian war seems inevitable. There is an unconfirmed report of the defeat & death of General Crook...that General Reno, who was cooperating with General Custer, lost 50 men killed & 40 wounded. Troops are being concentrated to chastise the Indians...".

Two-color full page prints: two color map of: "The Seat Of War",  and also: "Dead Stags" is a doublepage. There are several pages with color prints but most have some damage.

Contains 638 pages, three-quarter leather bindings with both boards present and still tightly bound, gold inking, some damage at the top of the spine does not affect interior pages, minor scuffing to the bindings. The interior pages are in very nice & very clean condition although there are 4 or 5 leaves with some disfigurements.
