WORCESTER EVENING GAZETTE, Massachusetts, April 3, 1880 Page 3 has a short report headed: "Attempted Jail Delivery" with a Los Vegas, New Mexico dateline, beginning: "Last evening two desperadoes, David Rudabaugh and John Allen, entered the jail & shot & fatally wounded the jailer in attempting to rescue one Webb, a prisoner under death sentence..." & just a bit more.
