A nice newspaper from the hotbed of the Confederacy, where the Civil War began. The front page has: "From Richmond--Morgan Working in Kentucky--Resignation of General Halleck" "Morgan Still Advancing--Makes a Movement Into Indiana--Capture of Henderson, Ky, Newberg, Ind., Some Prisoners and 250 Stand of Arms..." "The Recent Raid at Beaver Dam Station" "The Officers Captured at Murfreesboro" "Morgan Forever!" "Africans in Washington" and more.
Page 2 has a report from: "The convention & the Executive Council" which begins: "Are we freemen, or are we slaves? If there ever was a people that ought to be jealous of law, order & constitutional liberty, it is the people of South Carolina..." & much more. Also: "Drunken Generals" "Yankee" "The Track of the Abolition Army" "Morgan's Movements in Kentucky" and more. The back page has a very lengthy letter concerning the battle of Gaines' Mill, Virginia.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, some loss at a bottom margin does not affect any type, nice condition.
