NEW YORK TRIBUNE, Dec. 19, 1854

* Earliest mention of baseball to be had ?

Page 6 has an article headed: "Base-Ball". This is a very early baseball report, and it should be noted that the 'Times' of this date carries the very first mention of the word 'baseball' in its issue, a report very similar to this Tribune article. It begins: "It may be interesting to some...that there are now in this city three regularly organized clubs who meet twice in each week for about eight months...for exercise in the good, old-fashioned American game of base-ball..." with further details (see photos). Very nice that it refers to baseball as the "...old-fashioned American game..." (see photos).
Eight pages, never-trimmed margins, very nice condition.
