November 19, 1812

INDEPENDENT CHRONICLE, Boston, Massachusetts, November 19, 1812  Under the "By the Last Mails" heading on page two, is the "Official" report from John Rodgers on the capture of the British Packet Swallow by the Frigate President. "...SIR - I have the honor to acquaint you that on the 15 inst. near the Grand Bank, this ship,  the Congress in company, capture the British King's Packet Swallow... The rank of the commander of this vessel, is that of a master and commander in the navy. She had no cargo in, except eighty-one boxes of gold and silver, amounting to between one hundred and fifty and two hundred thousand dollars... I have the honor to be , with the greatest respect, Sir, your obedient servant John Rodgers". Page three also mentions the captured under the heading "American Prize List".

A small article pertaining to the horrid and inhuman murders committed by the Creek Indians in Tennessee is on page 2.

Page 3 carries the announcement of the "Proposal for publishing in the City of Baltimore, a daily Republican newspaper, to be Entitled the Baltimore Patriot by Ebenezer French, late one of the Editors of the Boston Patriot, assisted by a Gentleman of the first literary talents..."
