Page 2 has a report of some early troubles of John Hancock and his shipping enterprise, with a Boston report noting: "This day the Court of Admiralty for the trial of the libels against Mr. Hancock & others on presumption that a few pipes of Madeira wine had been landed, more than was entered...a number of witnesses were examined by the court...Mr. Hancock's nearest relations & even his tradesmen were summoned as evidences but nothing turning up that could support the libel against him, the court was again adjourned...". This was the "Liberty Affair" which has become a part of American history (see hyperlink). Further on the back page has another items concerning this trial concerning John Hancock's ship Liberty (see). The back page also has several items concerning non-importation.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper, foxing to the upper left corner of the ftpg., otherwise untrimmed margins and in very nice condition.
