THE PARSONS SUN, Parsons, Kansas, June 12, 1963
* Medgar Evers assassination
* Breaking racial barriers at the University of Alabama
The front page has a two column heading: "NAACP Leader IS Shot to Death" with caption: "At Jackson, Miss." Early, same day 1st report coverage on the assassination of African American civil rights activist, Medgar Evers.
Also on the front page of this issue is the reporting of Miss Vivian Malone and Jimmy Hood, the first African-Americans who "broke down the university's racial barriers in classrooms, residence halls and dining rooms" at the University of Alabama. This includes a photo of Miss Malone and two other young ladies.
Other news of the day. Complete in 18 pages, a few small binding holes along spine, otherwise nice.
