* Cinderella Man wins boxing title
* James Braddock
This 40 page newspaper a pictorial on the front page of section 2 with caption: "First Pictures of Championship Fight Which Saw Jimmy Braddock Win Title". Pages 26 and 27 of section two has banner headlines: "BRADDOCK'S VICTORY TRIUMPH FOR SOLID VIRTUES, WLASH AVERS" and "BAER CLOWNED HIS CROWN AWAY, SAYS JACK DEMPSEY, SADLY" with subheads (see photos). Other news, sports and advertisements of the day throughout. Light browning, a little margin wear and chipping, otherwise good.
Wikipedia notes: that Braddock was considered little more than a journeyman fighter & was hand-picked by Baer's handlers because he was seen as an easy payday for the champion. Instead, on June 13, 1935, at Madison Square Garden Bowl, Braddock won the heavyweight championship of the world as the 10-to-1 underdog in one of the most stunning upsets in boxing history. Baer admitted afterwards that he had underestimated Braddock as "a chump" and had received the worst pummeling of his professional career. The rest is history, and become excellent fodder for the successful movie on Braddock done in 2005 titled "Cinderella Man".
