AURORA GENERAL ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Jan. 2, 1795 Most of page 2 is taken up with various reports from Europe but there are items datelined Boston & New York as well. Page 3 has over half a column taken up with: "By the President of the United States of America - A PROCLAMATION" signed in type: G. Washington. In it he: "...recommends to all religious societies & denominations...to set apart & observe Thursday the 19th day of February next as a day of public Thanksgiving & prayer..." (see)
