The top of the front page has: "TWEED'S DILEMMA" "The Chief of the Ring Robbers Fairly Cornered" "Orders of Arrest Granted by Judge Learned, of Albany" "Tweed, Ingersoll, Garvey and Woodward Included in the Papers" "The Accused to be Taken Into Custody Today" with more (see). The "Times" and "Harper's Weekly" were the two leading newspapers bent on exposing the Tweed corruption.
This issue reports on the crooked dealings of Tammany Hall's William Tweed, or "Boss Tweed", who, along with others, had been stealing millions from the New York City. ultimately Tweed was convicted on corruption charges and sentenced to prison (see hyperlink for much more on the Tweed scandal).
