October 02, 1927

THE SPRINGFIELD UNION, Massachusetts, October 2, 1927

* New York Yankees record breaking season ends
* Babe Ruth with the home run record
* Murderers' Row fame

This 40+ page newspaper has a four column headline on page 2 of the sport's section:

"YANKS BEAT SENATORS IN FINAL GAME"

with subheads: "Gehrig Gets His 47th As Yankees Win 110th" & "American League Champions Close Season With 4-to3 Win Over Washington--Wiley Moore Credited With His 19th Win" and box scores.

This was the final game of the record breaking season (wins) for the Yankees. Babe Ruth had just broke the home run record a few days earlier. Some consider this to be the best major league team of all time.

Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Light browning with a little margin wear and chipping, otherwise good.
