THE CLEVELAND LEADER, July 20, 1909

* Neal Ball - Major league baseball
* 1st unassisted triple play

As a portion of a banner headline on page 6 is: BASEBALL: Naps Split Even With the Red Sox; Ball Makes Triple Play Unassisted." beneath which are subheads: "Triple Play Wins One For Naplets" and: "Ball's Sensational and Unheard of Stunt Saves Day for Cleveland" (see).
About Ball's rare feat the summary says in part: "...McConnell...met the pill directly...and hit it on a line towards left center. Neal Ball intercepted the ball with both hands, when dashing towards second, he touched the base, putting out Wagner, and touched Jake Stahl before the latter realized what had happened. a triple play unassisted, the first in the history of major league baseball, and the eighth ever made in organized ball, now stands to the credit of Neal..." (see).
Includes the box scores and the usual statistics. Included is a full-figure photo of Neil Ball headed: "Makes Triple Play Unassisted" plus a detailed caption. Usual browning with some margin wear and chipping, otherwise good. Should be handled with care.
