August 24, 1944
LA PRESS CHERBOURGEOISE, August 24, 1944 In terms of rarity this would be one of the best newspapers we have offered on the liberation of Paris during World War II. This is a French newspaper reporting the event, from Cherbourg, a town on the north coast of France, with a banner head: "Victoires Francaises" "Paris et Marseille Liberes" ("French Victory" "Paris and Marseille Liberated") with the balance of the front page, and event the content inside, relating to the various events on the liberation of Paris by the French Resistance & allied forces, an event accomplished over several days & not conclusively until Aug. 25.
A four page issue irregular at the spine with some loss here, particularly to the inside where the text runs across pages 2 & 3 like a single broadsheet without a central margin (see). Only blank margin is affected on pages 1 & 4. Otherwise in very nice condition & measuring 11 3/4 by 15 3/4 inches. Terrific to find this report in a French newspaper.
