As the title would suggest, this is a newspaper focused on the anti-slavery movement although there is other content as well. The ftpg. has: "Address of John Quincy Adams" and "Is Illinois A Free State?" & "Abolition Electioneering" among other items. Page 2 has an illustration political ad supporting: "For President, James G. Britney..." with the Liberty party (see).
But the prime feature of this issue is the excellent account of the famous slave George Latimer, headed: "FREE ! FREE !! FREE !!! Latimer Is Free !!" with much great text on the case. His situation was of such significance that much is found about him on the internet, Wikipedia noting in part: "George W. Latimer, was the first fugitive slave whose emancipation guided and influenced the American abolitionists of the 1850s. His flight to Boston, arrest, imprisonment, trial, and emancipation, as well as the numerous public meetings held all over Massachusetts on his behalf, I made his a cause celebre, fifteen years before the famous Dred Scott Decision. His supporters called it a "war on slavery."
