THE PRESENT STATE OF EUROPE OR THE HISTORICAL & POLITICAL MONTHLY MERCURY, London, England, March, 1695

* Rare 17th century title
* Queen Mary II of England death

This is a very uncommon periodical published during the reign of King William III, formatted something like a pamphlet but definitely a periodical, with the more extended title reading: "... Giving an Account of all the Publick and Private Occurrences, Civil, Ecclesiastical, and Military, that are most considerable in every Court: The Interest of Princes, their Pretensions, and Intrigues, etc."(see photo).
Much of this issue is concerned with the political & military affairs of Europe & is organized into news by country or region with commentary on the events. Included under: "Advice from Spain & the Low Countries" is a short item beginning; "The Court of Madrid is gone into Mourning for the Death of the queen of Great Britain, & His Catholick Majesty has order'd all his ministers in Foreign Courts to do the like." This was for the death of Queen Mary II at the end of December, 1694. The news under: "Advice from England and Holland" begins: "Upon the 5th of this month were solemniz'd the Funeral Obseqauies of Her late Majesty QUEEN MARY ii (of Blessed Memory) from the Royal Palace of White-Hall to the Collegiate Church of St. Peter's in Westminister, the streets being all the way thither boarded, Kail'din and cover'd with Black Bays & crowded with an infinite number of mournful spectators..." and much more (see), taking nearly two pages. Other items are reports under "Advice from England..." as well.
A nice feature of this periodical is the full title page which includes the date. The reverse of the title page has an advertisement, as does the back page, and the table of contents is near the back as well. Very nice, clean condition, printed slightly askew but no ink running off the paper (see), measures 6 1/4 by 7 1/2 inches, 36 pages.
