THE NEW YORK TIMES, New York, August 25, 1949
* First mention of Little League Baseball in this venerable newspaper
* Third Little League Baseball World Series, Williamsport Pennsylvania
The sports page contains a rather lengthy article in its section: "Sports of The Times" titled: "Baseball in Miniature" which is about the Little League World Series, only the third to be held. Although now the world's largest youth sports organization involving over 200,000 teams in 80 countries, in 1949 it was not well known beyond the borders of Pennsylvania. This article may well have been a catalyst for the growth of Little League across the country.
Complete in 46 pages, this is the "rag edition" printed on special high-quality newsprint specifically for institutional use. Excellent condition.
