October 01, 1888

THE TIMES, London, England, Oct. 1, 1888  This is perhaps the most desired title in which to find reports on the "Jack The Ripper" case which terrorized London at this time, and this report is much lengthier than most.
Pg. 6 has nearly three full columns under the heading: "More Murders at the East End" beginning: "In the early hours of yesterday morning two more horrible murders were committed in the East-end of London, the victim in both cases belonging, it is believed, to the same unfortunate class..." with much more details (see photos for the text). At one point is: "...The murder in the city was committed in circumstances which show that the assassin, if not suffering from insanity, appears to be fere from any fear of interruption while at his dreadful work..." with more. Further on one of the victims is identified by name: Elizabeth Stride, now considered as having been the third victim of Jack the Ripper.
Simply far too much great content to mention here, but see the photos for most.
Complete in 16 pgs., folio size, the first leaf is a bit mangled at the spine (top issue in the volume), with creases to the top 3 leaves, creases (with some minor cracking) affect the 3 column of Jack the Ripper text (see). The quality of the paper is goo, being high rag content.
Terrific to find such lengthy reporting on Jack the Ripper in this famous London newspaper.
