The sports pave has a one column head: "DiMaggio Seeks 3-Way Batting Championship" "Include Percentage Hitting, Home Runs and Runs Batted In" with the text reporting that Joe DiMaggio has broken the consecutive game hitting streak: "...has reached his goal of a new all-time major league record for hitting in 45 consecutive games...DiMaggio's blow yesterday to break the 44 year old mark of Willie Keeler was a sizzling home run, his 18th of the season..." DiMaggio would continue his hitting streak to 56 games, ending on July 17, a record which has yet to be broken and is considered one of the most difficult records to break.
