TAHOE TATTLER, Tahoe, California, July 27, 1881
* Lake Tahoe CA
* Very rare and unusual size title
* Odl West original
Even in the 19th century Lake Tahoe was considered a playground for the West Coast wealthy. This is a very rare, little newspaper (volume 1, number 16 issue) published at the Grand Central Hotel in Tahoe City. This elegant new hotel was built in 1871, with walnut furniture, Brussels carpets, and an ornate cast iron kitchen range that cost $800 it eclipsed the Glenbrook House as Tahoe's toniest resort the day it opened.
This tiny newspaper measures just 5 1/2 by 7 inches & has various tourist-related tidbits and ads for hotels, saloons, etc. Four pages and in great condition.
