Civil War newspaper from Kentucky...

Item # 560810 THE LOUISVILLE DAILY JOURNAL, Kentucky, 1863

* Rare Civil War era title

Louisville was a Confederate city for a part of 1861 but thereafter was mostly under Yankee control, although many residents maintained Southern sympathies throughout the entire Civil War. As such, this issue from the middle of the Civil War provides some interesting reading.
The top of the front page has some nice one column war headlines, with war reports found on page 3 as well. Other news of the day and a great wealth of ads appear on all four pages.
Cleanly cut at the spine margin, some tears at the edge with one extending into type at the right side, wear at the edges and some text loss at the spine edge to the inside pages.
A very uncommon opportunity for a Civil War newspaper from the state of Kentucky.
