May 21, 1799

THE GLASGOW COURIER, Scotland, May 21, 1799   An uncommon late 18th century title from Scotland, as Edinburgh issues are more typically found.  The front page of this issue contains American news reports from the House of Representatives and from New York in which it refers to a bill for the gradual abolition of Slavery being passed by their Senate. Other various news of the day on pages 1, 2 & 3 with the back page mostly taken up with ads, and other ads scattered on page 3 as well. This also contains six nice ship ads on the back page.

Folio-size, complete in 4 pages, a few small binding holes at the blank spine margin, and a partial red-inked tax stamp at the top of the front page. A nice opportunity for an 1700's Scotland newspaper at an attractive price. See photos for details.
