LONDON CHRONICLE, from London, dated April 14, 1759

* George Frideric Handel death
* 18th century musician

Among the front page news from London is a brief but notable report about the death Handel. The report reads:

* Yesterday died George-Frederick Handel, Esq; the great musician

Nice to have to this report on the front page & great to have in a title from the country where he lived most of his adult life. 4to-size, 8 pages, bit of rubbing in unrelated content.

wikipedia notes: George Frideric Handel (23 February 1685 – 12 April 1759) was an English Baroque composer of German birth who is famous for his operas, oratorios, and concerti grossi. His life and music may justly be described as "cosmopolitan": he was born in Germany, trained in Italy, and spent most of his life in England. Born as Georg Friedrich Händel (IPA: [ˈhɛndəl]) in Halle in Saxony-Anhalt, he settled in England in 1712, becoming a naturalized subject of the British crown on 22 January 1727. His works include Messiah, Water Music, and Music for the Royal Fireworks. Strongly influenced by the techniques of the great composers of the Italian Baroque era, as well as the English composer Henry Purcell, Handel's music became well-known to many composers, including Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
