1948 Cleveland Indians World champions...

Item # 556391

October 08, 1948

TAUNTON DAILY NEWS, Massachusetts, October 8, 1948  This 16 page newspaper has a three column headline on the front page: "Cleveland Leads In Fifth 2-0" with related photo, lineup and current score as the game as this issue was published in the fifth inning of game 3.
Other news of the day throughout. Light browning with little margin wear, otherwise good.

wikipedia notes: The 1948 World Series matched the Cleveland Indians against the Boston Braves. The Braves had won the National League pennant for the first time since the "Miracle Braves" team of 1914. The Indians spoiled a chance for the only all-Boston World Series by winning a one-game playoff against the Boston Red Sox. Though superstar pitcher Bob Feller failed to win either of his two starts, the Indians won the Series in six games to capture their second championship and their first since 1920 (as well as their last to the present date).
