THE TOWN & COUNTRY MAGAZINE, London, England, August, 1786  This is the complete, genuine issue of this magazine, never bound nor trimmed, and still containing the two full page plates called for in the title/index page (see).
One of the plates is a terrific image captioned: "Margaret Nicholson attempting to assassinate the King." with the plate showing just that (see).
The first article in this magazine is headed: "Authentic Particulars of the Attempt of Margaret Nicholson to assassinate the King", which includes the first public report of it as printed in the "London Gazette Extraordinary" of August 2, 1786 (see below). This is followed by "Particulars of the Attempt" which takes the remainder of the first page and all of pages 2, 3, and part of page 4 (photos show portions of the text), with additional subheads: "A Description of Margaret Nicholson's Person" and "Second Examination".
This magazine is complete in 54 pages with original untrimmed margins, and contains the other print called for as well captioned: "American Matron - The Hibernian Factor" (see).

THE LONDON GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY, England, August 2, 1786  This is the very edition cited in the magazine noted above, being a single sheet "Extra" broadside (printed on one side only) with the text identical to that noted in the magazine (see photos). This broadside Extra measures 7 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches, has a partial red-inked tax stamp in the lower right corner, and is in excellent condition.
This issue is guaranteed genuine, having been found in our extensive inventory of the London Gazette purchased some years ago from a British institution.
A very rare opportunity for not just one of these reports, but the pair which belong together, since the "Extra" of the London Gazette is referenced in the "Town and Country Magazine".
