Destroyers for Bases Agreement...

Item # 548455

September 03, 1940

LEOMINSTER DAILY ENTERPRISE, Massachusetts, September 3, 1940

* Destroyers for Bases Program
* World War II relief
* U.S. Destroyers

This 8 page newspaper has a nice banner headline on the front page: "50 U. S. DESTROYERS WILL GO TO BRITAIN"
with subheads that include: "Naval Air Base Deal Involved" and more.
Other news of the day. A few small binding holes along the spine. Lite browning around the margins, otherwise in good condition.

wikipedia notes: The Destroyers for Bases Agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom, September 2, 1940, transferred fifty mothballed destroyers from the United States Navy in exchange for land rights on British possessions. The destroyers became the Town-class, and were named for cities common to both the United States and Great Britain.
