This 16 page issue is in nice condition (except for a small piece missing in the upper left hand corner of the front page measuring 3/4 by 1/2 inches) and contains illustrations of the latest inventions of the day with accompanying text which include: "The Speed of an Aeroplane Propeller", "Graphite Mining in Ceylon", "Facsimile of the Aerial Navigation Company Bond Which Show the Porter Aeroport Dirigible Car", and "An Automatic Railway Safety Stop".

Historical Background: Scientific American is a popular science magazine, published (first weekly and later monthly) since August 28, 1845, making it the oldest continuously published magazine in the United States. It brings articles about new and innovative research to the amateur and lay audience.
