This is one of a number of amateur newspapers which were a popular fad in the latter half of the 19th century. The masthead notes "Advance and Improvement". Typically these newspapers were rather short-lived. Complete as a 4 page issue, never bound nor trimmed, measures about 9 by 11 1/2 inches, some tears at the margins, otherwise in nice, clean condition. Rare to find any 19th century newspapers from small towns in Iowa.
