THE GENTLEMAN'S JOURNAL: OR THE MONTHLY MISCELLANY, London, May , 1693 A rare magazine from the 17th century subtitled:  "In a Letter to a Gentleman in the Country. Consisting of News, History, Philosophy, Poetry, Musick, Translations, &c."   Has a very nice full title page (see photo) and contains a variety of content as indicated in the subtitle. Of particular interest is a short "novel" entitled "The Witchcraft of Gaming." There is also an essay  "On Agriculture and gardening by Philocles; as an Answer to the Question. Which is the most useful of all Arts." There are several pages of music as well.  Issue is trimmed a bit close at the top causing minor loss to the margin, appears to have a very faint notation in the blank background on the front page, just  to the right of the engraving, has a few traces of foxing, otherwise in very good, clean condition. Has 36 pages, measures about 7 5/8 by 6 inches, and is printed on high-quality newsprint. A nice, rare item!
