The rather bold & dramatic headlines on the front page announce: "FORMER MEDFORD GIRL FOUND SLAIN", this being Elizabeth Short, who grew up in Medford, Mass., a suburb of Boston, hence the reason for the dramatic front page report rarely found in any other newspapers of the day with the possible exception of Los Angeles newspapers.
Included also is a photo of her, plus subheads which include: "Victim of Brutal Murder in Los Angeles Identified as Elizabeth Short, 22 Year Old Daughter of Salem Street Woman--Left Home Several Years Ago--Known as Beauty at Medford High--Thought of Movie Career" "Savagely Attacked and Beaten Before Death--Discover Body Dismembered, Left in Field" "West Coast Infuriated By Crime--Move to Post Reward of $10,000 to Find Murderer". The report carries over to page 15.
This case has much renewed interest with the release of the new Brian DePalma movie. This still unsolved murder case is considered as being the "first media-manufactured murder" as noted by James Elroy, the author of the book.
This is the complete 28 page issue and is in very nice, clean condition.
