Page two contains a terrific letter signed in type by: P.T. Barnum, to Mr. Bennett, publisher of the Herald, concerning his engagement of Jenny Lind to perform in America. Reference is even made of her being the "Swedish Nightingale". The letter begins: "Much against my will, it has got into the papers that I am endeavoring to engage the "Swedish Nightingale" for America...and that I have offered her $50,000 for 200 nights...I would have preferred keeping this subject out of the public prints..." with much more, including Barnum's correcting several erroneous points, including the amount he is paying her (see photos).  A terrific issue for any Barnum or Jenny Lind collector. Complete in 4 pgs., terrific condition.
