SPORTING NEWS, St. Louis, Missouri, April 22, 1972 A nice color action photo of Bobby Hull in a Chicago Black Hawks uniform takes the entire front page. There is a full page article on him inside. Also of special interest is a very inconspicuous item under the heading: "Southern Sees Tight Race With Young Stars" which reads: "...The newcomers to the league were Cal Ripken at Asheville, Johnny Goryl at Charlotte..." and more. He would not make his Major League debut until 1981. Perhaps the first mention of Cal Ripken in a national publication?
There is also a two page article: "Tempestuous Ted--Greatest of All Hitters?" which is on Ted Williams, and includes 3 photos.
Loaded with sports news throughout the 48 pages. Tabloid size, great condition.
