NEW YORK DAILY TRIBUNE, Jan. 3, 1863 "From General Rosecrans Army A Terrible Battle at Murfreesboro The Rebel Center Broken The Losses Reported To Be Enormous Stanly, Rousseau, and Palmer Wounded Occupation of the Enemys Works". Accompanying map headed "The Battle of Murfreesboro" includes a detailed caption and measures 7 1/4 by 4 1/2 inches. Some of the Tennessee TN cities represented iin this map include: Nashville, Brentwood, Christiana, Berlin, Tullahoma and much more. Page 4 has: The Emancipation Proclamation and beneath this head is: By the President of the United States of America--A Proclamation. Hereafter is the text of this famous Proclamation which states in part: ....I do order and declare that ALL PERSONS HELD AS SLAVES within said designated States and Parts of States, Are, And Henceforward Shall Be, FREE! and that the Executive Government of the United states, including Military and Naval authorities thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of said persons. The document is signed in type: Abraham Lincoln. On the same page is a compelling editorial headed: The Proclamation. Issue has lite dampstaining in the lower corners affecting each leaf, with some in the Emancipation text, has occasional foxing, otherwise in good condition.
