October 28, 1797
COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Oct. 28, 1797. The entire last column of the front page is taken up with a "PROCLAMATION" for a day of public thanksgiving, signed in type by the governor of Massachusetts, Increase Sumner. Page 2 contains a lengthy report on a "...most splendid dinner to the President of the United States, John Adams..." with much detail, and with a list of the varous patriotic toasts (see photos). Pg. 3 contains an ad for various item "For Sale by John Hancock" (this is not THE John Hancock, who died in 1793). Complete in 4 pages, never-trimmed margins, scattered light foxing, mostly very nice.
