THE CORRECTOR, Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York, May 17, 1879  A very uncommon title from this once-famous whaling town near the eastern end of Long Island, now more famous as a playground for the rich & famous who frequent the neighboring Hamptons.
The front page has a lengthy article: "Pike's Peak Signal Station", calling it the "...highest inhabited portion of the globe...". Page 2 has a report noting: "In six weeks Mr. Edison says his electric lamp will be ready for public inspection. It burns satisfactory now in the machine shop but he proposes to find all the fault with it he can himself, for correction, before turning it over to the public, fully realizing that a failure would be to the last degree damaging.
Inside pages have various tidbits of news from the area, including a "Board Of Health" report form the town of Southampton and a similar one from the Town of Easthampton. A wealth of ads as well, several of which are illustrated. Complete in 4 pages and in great, untrimmed condition.
