In the bottom half of the ftpg. is: "Attempt to Rob a Bank", being an item about men braking into the home of the cashier of a bank in Northampton, Mass., securing the bank keys and attempting to break into the vault. THE OGDEN JUNCTION, Utah, 1873  The masthead features a nice illustration symbolizing the "junction" of the east & west railroads with the completion of the transcontinental railroad which happened not far from here in 1869.
Ogden was originally named Fort Buenaventura, it was the first permanent settlement by people of European descent in what is now Utah. It was established in 1846, to be purchased by the Mormon settlers for $1,950 the following year.
