Complete with 40+ pages, light toning and a little wear at the margins, small binding holes along the spine, generally in good condition.

Background: The Golden Gate International Exposition, which opened on February 18, 1939, transformed the newly constructed 400-acre artificial Treasure Island into an illuminated "Magic City" that celebrated the recent completion of both the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Centered around the grand 400-foot Tower of the Sun and the towering 80-foot Statue of Pacifica, the fairgrounds featured an eclectic architectural blend of Mayan, Asian, and Art Deco design styled as "Pacific Unity." Millions of visitors toured expansive thematic courts like the Court of the Moon and the Court of Pacifica, explored cutting-edge technological showcases including public demonstrations of early black-and-white television by RCA and Westinghouse, viewed priceless fine arts in the Palace of Fine and Decorative Arts, and enjoyed vibrant entertainment along the 40-acre Gayway amusement strip. Beyond its cultural, scientific, and artistic exhibits, the exposition served as a major industrial spotlight for Pacific Rim nations and American corporations before the island was repurposed as a U.S. Navy base during World War II.
